FAQ

Hengfengyou Transformer Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

1. Standards & Certifications

Q1: What global standards are followed for your pad mounted, pole mounted, dry type, main power transformers and mobile substations? Can the equipment satisfy local grid codes in my target country?
A1: Our full range of transformers and mobile substations are engineered complying with IEC 60076. Customization is available to meet GB, ANSI/IEEE, EN, GOST, AS/NZS, INMETRO, SASO, SABS and KEBS. Kindly share your project nation and grid specification at inquiry stage. We will conduct standard matching evaluation and prepare all required certification documents for grid interconnection approval.

Q2: Can we obtain type test certificates and third-party witnessed test reports? Is witnessed factory test available for power main transformer and mobile substation?
A2: Standard units come with complete type test reports endorsed by CNAS, KEMA and UL. For high-capacity Power Main Transformer and Mobile Substation projects, we support witnessed factory testing (WTT). Critical tests including lightning impulse, short-circuit withstand and temperature rise can be witnessed on-site upon scheduling.

Q3: Can technical documents such as nameplate, fabrication drawings, test certificates and operation manuals be issued in English or other languages?
A3: English technical document package is the standard delivery scope, which includes nameplate drawing, general assembly drawing, FAT report, operation & maintenance handbook and spare parts list. Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian and French versions can be arranged for large-volume or turnkey projects.

2. Technical Performance

Q4: What winding materials are available for your transformers? Can we get formal written commitment of winding material in contract?
A4: We supply both oxygen-free copper and aluminum winding options for Pad Mounted, Pole Mounted and Dry Type transformers, as well as Power Main Transformer. Winding material specification will be clearly defined in the technical appendix and sales contract, with supporting material inspection certificates attached.

Q5: Can transformer parameters including load loss, impedance, temperature rise and insulation class strictly follow our technical datasheet? What will happen if loss exceeds agreed value during FAT?
A5: All electrical parameters can be customized according to owner datasheet and verified during factory test. If FAT measurement results fail to meet contracted loss limits, the transformer or mobile substation will not be released for shipment.

Q6: Are your transformers and mobile substations suitable for harsh environments such as high altitude, extreme heat, coastal salt spray, high humidity and seismic zones?
A6: We provide environmental reinforced design for all product lines. Solutions include high-altitude temperature derating design, tropical cooling system, anti-corrosion coating up to C5M and seismic reinforcement. Please provide ambient temperature, elevation, salt spray category and seismic grade so we optimize the design accordingly.

Q7: Are your transformers capable of stable operation under harmonic loads from solar and wind farms? Can anti-harmonic design be implemented?
A7: Anti-harmonic optimized transformers can be custom-built for renewable energy projects. The magnetic circuit and thermal structure are redesigned to suppress harmonic heating, suitable for PV and wind farm grid-connection scenarios.

Q8: What noise level can your transformers achieve? Can low-noise design meet noise limit requirements for residential and urban projects?
A8: Noise measurement follows IEC standards. Low acoustic noise optimization is available for Dry Type, Pad Mounted and Pole Mounted transformers deployed in urban residential zones, and we can provide noise test data for review.

Q9: Are lightning impulse and short-circuit withstand capabilities sufficient for local grid requirements?
A9: Lightning impulse insulation level is matched to equipment voltage rating. Our Power Main Transformer adopts robust anti-short-circuit design, and relevant short-circuit type test reports can be supplied for tender submission.

Q10: What is the design lifespan of your transformer products? Does your insulation design adopt the 6℃ aging rule?
A10: Pad mounted and pole mounted distribution transformers have a 20-year design life; Dry Type Transformer is designed for 20 years; Power Main Transformer is designed for 30 years. With proper maintenance and stable load, service life can be extended. Our oil and solid insulation design complies with the 6℃ insulation aging principle.

Q11: Is Hengfengyou Transformer a real power equipment manufacturer?
A11: Yes. Hengfengyou Transformer is a professional manufacturer founded in 1990, with nearly 30 years of transformer and mobile substation manufacturing experience. Our core R&D engineers have more than 28 years of power equipment design experience. Our factory is based in Qingdao, China, and factory audits are welcome.

3. Customization, Dimension & Transportation

Q12: Can you provide non-standard customization for transformers and mobile substations? Can tap changers, bushings and accessories be selected per client’s specification?
A12: Full customization is available for Pad Mounted, Pole Mounted, Dry Type, Power Main Transformer and Mobile Substation. Accessories such as on-load tap changers, bushings, temperature controllers, pressure relief valves and gas relays can be configured with brands specified by project owner.

Q13: Could you provide net weight, gross weight and overall dimensions of the equipment? Is oversize transport required? Can the unit adapt to site hoisting and inland transportation?
A13: Weight and dimension datasheet will be provided with quotation. For large Power Main Transformer and Mobile Substation, we will assess hoisting load and road restrictions beforehand and assist you to work out the oversize transport plan.

Q14: What oil filling mode is adopted for transformer shipment: full oil, partial oil or oil-drained nitrogen preservation?
A14: Small-size Pole Mounted and Pad Mounted transformers are normally shipped fully filled with oil. For large Power Main Transformer and long ocean transit, oil-drained nitrogen protection will be applied. Transport shock recorder will be equipped to monitor vibration during shipment.

4. Production & Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)

Q15: How long is your production lead time? How do you manage delivery risk?
A15: Production lead time depends on product type, voltage level and customization scope, and will be fixed in sales contract. We will notify customers in advance if any delivery delay risk appears, and liability will be handled in accordance with contract terms.

Q16: Can our representatives or third-party surveyors attend factory inspection and witness FAT test?
A16: Client or third-party witness and factory supervision are accepted. We will coordinate production schedule and FAT test time in advance for your visit.

Q17: Are raw materials traceable? Are core manufacturing processes outsourced to external workshops?
A17: Core components including iron core, windings and tank are manufactured in our own factory. Batch traceability documents of critical raw materials can be offered. Core production processes are kept in-house and will not be outsourced.

5. Commercial, Quotation, Payment & Customs

Q18: How long is your quotation valid? Will price adjust if raw material price fluctuates?
A18: Standard quotation is valid for 15 days, price locked within validity period. Re-quotation will be required after expiration. For large EPC turnkey projects, we can negotiate extended quotation validity up to 90 days, maximum 180 days.

Q19: What payment terms do you accept? Is irrevocable L/C acceptable? What is the minimum prepayment percentage?
A19: We accept T/T and irrevocable sight L/C. Prepayment ratio can be negotiated based on project scale and finally confirmed in contract.

Q20: Can you issue Certificate of Origin and other customs documents for tariff preference?
A20: We can issue CO, FORM E and other FTA origin certificates to help customers apply for tariff reduction.

6. Packaging, Logistics & Cargo Insurance

Q21: How do you pack equipment for ocean export? Can packaging prevent salt spray and moisture? Are wooden crates marked with IPPC stamp?
A21: Our export package adopts anti-rust, moisture-proof and shockproof treatment. Wooden export crates carry IPPC heat treatment mark, meeting quarantine requirements of destination ports.

Q22: What transportation modes are available for transformers and mobile substations?
A22: Available transport solutions: sea freight, heavy-lift bulk vessel, China-Europe Railway Express and road trucking. Sea freight suits most overseas markets; bulk vessel transport applies for oversize Power Main Transformer and Mobile Substation. Railway and trucking are suitable for Central Asia and inland European countries.
